A Good Day

I didn’t have to talk on the phone at all today to any clients.

Eliot sent me a photo of him and his adorable girlfriend sitting under some cherry blossom trees.

I saw Boss, but we didn’t talk, just gave tight smiles across the room.

Ian picked me up on his bicycle, and we biked to a pub. I tried my first beer for real. It was horrible, but Ian wasn’t.

Ian didn’t bring up Portland. I didn’t bring up Boss. We didn’t talk about relationships or commitments or whether I’m boy crazy and not fit to date anyone until I get my life in order. Instead, Ian told me he wanted to take me to a Mariners game this summer. I told him I wanted to bike around Lake Washington with him. We smiled a lot. He grabbed my hand under the table.

The sun set so late that we decided to bike to the beach. We sat in the sand and didn’t speak.

He leaned over and kissed me.

I wish it was always this good.
